Dusk Til Dawn Grand Prix III

So i was bored on Wednesday..............what better than to impulse reg to a 3 day live tourney that is 2hours drive away!!
I played the 1st Grand Prix and found the standard very poor, and this one boasted another small buyin with big guarentee.
So i lumped my food money for the week onto DTD and regged for Day1C - €50 spent

An interesting aspect to this tounry is the fact that online qualifiers get a Golden Chip, which in turn means if they FT they get an extra €2k (i think).....going forward i think this is deffo the value and very +EV....even if it costs you the same than buyin in direct.  And if u bust the Golden Chip is pretty heavy and would make a great murder weapon when the retarded Turk calls your 4bet jam with KJo and binks.

*I'd get him in the eye if i threw it mind you*

Day One Report:

After regging for the Grand Prix III at approx 3pm, i had not much time to get ready so i donned my hairband, picked up some Gum and was en route.  First thing to remember when you go to long day of Poker is to:
CHARGE YOUR PHONE.
After almost losing my way a few times my phone battery was on 12% and Iphone batteries dont do low battery very well....epic fail Iphone

I finally got there to see i was seated in Table 23 Seat 4, which is good for me, no need to move tables and time to get used to the <' ( )( )<  s.

Table Draw was as follows:
Seat 1 - Empty
Seat 2 - Empty
Seat 3 - Tight Northern Women (from NPF)
Seat 4 - Hero aka me
Seat 5 - Online Geek
Seat 6 - Young Ronaldo lookalike fish
Seat 7 - Rock
Seat 8 - Old calling station
Seat 9 - Old fish
Seat 10 - Chinese player (pretty solid)

First 2 levels i was table captain and happily chipped up to 12k uncontested, and then Seats 1 and 2 were filled with 2x online whizz kids that were 3 and 4 betting light for fun.  Carddead and intrigued i managed to keep out of there way for a while whilst i got to see how spewy they really were.

I did manage to get my first ever cold 5bet in live poker, tbh i didnt even look at my cards but it had the desired effect (i had K5dd as it turned out)

One thing i did notice this time, was that altho there were more DTD Website people around there was absolutley no Press Work going on.  Considering they were breaking another record, there was photography, blog updates and since they cut ties with Blonde Poker Forum, the event seemed UNINTERESTING.  You'd expect a record breaking tourny to have a buzz.....this rarely made a slight humm.

I do hope that is addressed in Days 2 and 3, as i think DTD are missing a massive trick when it comes to the media side of things, but at least there is no photographic proof of my Hairband (altho APAT Presenter Maylis Boardman thinks i rock it!)

Interesting hand alert

Stack - 11k
Blinds - 75/150

Seat 8 limps, Seat 10 raises to 550, i call on button with 89ss. All others fold
FLOP - 6s 7s 6h
Seat 10 Chks, Hero chks
TURN - 6s 7s 6h    2s
Seat 10 Chks, Hero bets 1025, Seat 10 calls  (Pot - 3475)
River - 6s 7s 6h    2s    As
Seat 10 Jams........
Horrible spot as i flopped the world and was quite happy to disguise it with a check behind, turn is a pretty BINGO card for, and at the river i was tryin to think what Spade could he have there as i expected him to have the As in his hand....Anyways i folded and he showed Js Jh.....what a crappy river.....

I spent the next hour or so folding, really struggling to get anything going until i woke up with AA utg, i raise and get 2 callers. On a Q high flop i cbet, seat 7 min raises, seat 10 calls....so i jam.....was excited to see seat 7 calling (he had been fishy) and seat 10 tanks.....and folds. Seat 7 had KQ and i fade the turn and river........Seat 10 then says he folded AQ....grrr why did u have to be a good player!!!

After that i went back to being card dead and spot dead.

I decided i would get active in last 2 levels with all the antes, players wanting to make day 2 and preserve there stacks.
I got a timely double up to 32k when in the sb i jammed A5dd after two late limpers....the bb tank calls (shit) and all others fold. He has the same stack as me and shows 22.....Flop comes A high and im looking ok again.

The last level was a nightmare, i opened 44 with a 2.3x and good internet player to my left calls.  Flop come 8h 9h 2c, i cbet and he min reraises......at this point i can either jam or fold with my stack.....at this point i was tryint o fathom out if he had a small PP like me, or 2 overs with a FD maybe AQhh or something along those lines....as i was thinking i see the clock called on me by another young guy (knobber) and i decide that i have just enough to jam and get a fold but am pretty sure he has 55 or 66 and realising that i have taken a long time he will probably be more inclined to call.....Already decided i am folding i let the clock ride out as wanna waste as much time as wanted.

As the Floor Manger calls HAND DEAD i say to him "66?" and he duely shows! Good Read Dann!

Last hand of the day im in mid position and one guy limps (WTF?!) so i jam AK and all fold.

Bit disappointed that i am gonna have to drive 2 hrs on Sat to open a bag of 14bbs, but in Day 1 i saw 93o more than girls phone #s i have got (Thats alot - ed) and in regards to premiums i saw:
AA x 1
AK x 2 (won blinds both times)
AQ/AJ/AT/A9 x 0
KK/QQ/JJ/TT/99/88/77 x 0
66 x 1
44 x 1
22 x 1

Player Table Seat Chip Count
