Grand Prix V Day 1a Trip Report
Ill try to remember the most of the days play, altho it was a long one!!
Picked up the Team Muck Posse aka Tom Feilding, Matty Crocker, Steve Lloyd and Mike Palmer and headed to sunny Nottingham for Day 1a. We chose Day1a due to the huge feild, huge amount of chips in play and the fact that it was a Saturday and filled with recreational retards.
My starting table was super soft and i managed to chip up to 27k from 15k starting stack, rarely having to show my hand, and on the few occasions i did, i was massively in front :)
To give u an idea of the standard of players on my table, one guy limp folded when i raised the button vs sat out bb.....and another guy sb raised my bb, which i called with Q5cc, he leads out on 232 flop, check calls the 7 on turn, then chk calls my bet. Only to check fold on a 2 river?!!?
As mentioned at Break 1 i was sat pretty on 27k and was table captain, however life is never that easy!
levels 4-9 were an absolute killer. I kept flopping hard, and bulding big pots, only to be hit with some weird gutter ball river to lose the pot, altho the minimum each time....
Late in level 7, with 15bbs i reshipped an active raiser with Q9hh and he snapped with AKcc, but a beautful Q high flop saw me double to ~35bbs and back in the race.................until the next hand!
I raise c/o with KQss and bb calls.......
Flop is KhQd3s
BB check calls my 2/3rd pot bet
Turn 7h
He check calls again
River 9s
He insta bombs the river!
I figure he either flopped a set or had JThh or similar! i announce i think he has JThh and fold face up, he shows JThh.....go me!
Table breaks and i move to a table with 1 shortie (who was on my first table and was awful) and big stacks all around. My 15bbs werent looking too scary!
I managed to chip up squeezing with 57dd and 53dd in good spots to around 22bbs and then the luckbox kicked in!
Blinds 600/1200/100
3 limpers and i look down at JsJh so 4.5x it to 5.4k and the bb ships..........she was a young player that had made some impressive moves (that i had seen) so i decided to take the flip (figuring she has AK)
She flicks over AA and im ready to leave......K35....J....2 Booom!!!!!!!!!!!!
I then call a shorties shove with KQhh and he has QQ....flop K high and im up to 80k ish with other small pots.....
The last level comes and i start with around 110k ish and lose a beast of a pot
Active player utg raises to 4100 and 3 call including me in sb (46cc)
flop comes 6d4d2h
i chk, OR cbets 10k, shortie shoves 27k, other player calls 27k and i reship my stack in (105k ish) OR folds, other players folds
Pot is ~205k
he shows 79dd
turn Ac
River Qd
BOOOOOOOOO!!!
I fade and am one of the CLs (2nd in fact) on day 2 but no, i end the day with 77500 which sits me 32/77 that return from my day and dead on ave stack......
Blinds are 1200/2400/200
Pretty sure each of the remaining day 1s will have less than 400 runners starting, and will probably bring back a lot more 15-25bb stacks, which can be dangerous for me!
We will find out soon enough, but looking forward to locking my first Hendon Mob flag of the year, and with such a good prizepool, it only takes a mini heater and we could be Very Very Rich!!!
Sadly the better half told me i had to get a 100k stack for day 2, so she was annoyed at me!!!
In other news, the rest of the guys all busted...Special Mention to Matt Crocker who was first out (of the whole day, on hand 1) AK v Q4 lol
Day 2 i up plz

A Glimpse Back at 2011, and Looking Forward to 2012
Im not gonna glimpse back too far into 2011 as there was only 3 defining moments in the year for myself, two being poker related and the other not.
The 1st moment was meeting my soulmate, yes cheesy i know, but she has really revitalised me and allowed me to push myself in all the things i want to do. I look forward to our future and know its gonna be awesome sharing all things in lige with her...so Lauren, thank you very much!!
Yes, i do well for a Fugly Guy!! |
Secondly, we have the Podcast which Tom Piccirill and I started in August. Its been a great craic so far, and we look to build on it in 2012. Hopefully with the right content we can build a loyal army of listeners and hope all enhoy the content we provide. If you dont subscribe yet and fancy a listen then click here for the itunes link. If you dont have iTunes, u can listen in the browser on our site. You will see if frequenting many a live game in 2012, whether its Genting Tour, UKIPT, hey maybe even the WSOP.....so we really hope you guys enjoy it. Here is the review we were given:
ITMPOKER PODCAST
"The In The Muck Poker Podcast is a new UK poker Podcast hosted by Tom Piccirilli and Dann Williams.
These guys are CLEARLY having fun…which and the end of the day is what podcast AND poker should really be about. Right?
This podcast primarily seems to cover the UK poker scene (including live tourney updates and online coverage as well) so you will probably enjoy it most if you are from the UK. That being said, the hosts make it so enjoyable that if you have room in your podcast rotation, you might as well add it. We think you will be glad you did!
You can find the show here."
Now then, the poker.............
I was pretty much life busto due to the dreaded need to withdraw monies for real life reasons, not ideal when tryin to build a Bankroll for sure. I was offered a stake by a friend in a few MTTs on the Boss network which went really well, and we decided to take a shot at getting a package to teh Vienna Deluxe Challenge event..........well you all know i got a package and we went for a wicked weekend away. Whilst out there, Poker Heaven gave me €55 free when i set up an account there and the rest is history.
Here are my results from November and Decemeber on that site:
Hello, Mr Shark!! |
So as you can see all is good in the Hood....this graph doesnt include any Cash stats but i can confirm the closing BR for the year is €2200 (and i have withdrawn ~ €300 as well) so not to shabby from €0 deposit.
Sadly i will be parting ways with Poker Heaven now, as our Podcast Sponser Poker.co.uk is also on the same network and i will be playing there under the username s4ooter....that acc curently shows a small loss from years before so i will be resetting it, so i have a clear idea of how things are goingin 2012.
On PCUK i have the benefit of 30% rakeback plus a schedule of Frequent Player Point (FPP) games that run with maximum 20 runners and free money in the Prizepool.
Aims/Goals in 2012:
1) Top 20 on Sharkscope "Total Profit in Scheduled Games by Network" on IPN/Boss
Now 20th in 2011 was $30,600 which is roughly €23,600. Thats a massive jump up for me, as i (until recently) have been a part time grinder. It will mean lots and lots of volume and lots of hours.....the first few months will be crucial as with a 2.3k roll and a nightly schedule easily hitting €300 i will need to put 100% into the sessions i play. Now this is my "faitytale" goal and will not be the forefront of my mind in 2012....
2) Final Table the 85e HeadHunter (Sunday Major) on Boss
Pretty straight forward, its soft, and a massive payday AND you can often freeroll it at sats of super soft!
3) 50 Final Tables in GTD games
Again, if i wanna hit Goal 1 this should be doubled, maybe trebled, but its a good benchmark. Hit about 20 in 2 months playing a few days a week max, so more than possible.
4) Add 3 (minimum) Hendon Mob Entries
Managed to go from Zero to Three this year, and was very unlucky not to add a few more, but with the little amount of live volume i put in, its to be expected. Which kinda links to the next one.
5) Play more live events
Want to play at least 1x UKIPT, 1 x Genting Series ME, the APAT WCOAP Main Event + sides, 2 x APAT regular Events, 1x DTD Deepstack and 1 x DTD Monte Carlo. No excuses not to, as lots of supersoft sats available, need to be more proactive!!!
6) Build the Podcast
Want to get ITM recognised throughout the UK as a solid peice of Poker Media, already had a review from an America site (www.pokerpodcastreviews.com) which i pasted above. The podcast is fun, i have a great time doing it with TP and would be nice to see others enjoy it. Hopefully get some representitives in 2012, to bear the patches, and advertise for us, whilst they are trekking playing live events around the UK.....If you fancy it, lets us know...we obv cant pay or sponsor you, but we would more than happily advertise your poker media, blog or whatever...even get you on the show.
There will ,no doubt, be more but thats it for now. I hope you all have a cracking 2012, thanks so much for following my blog/twiiter/podcast and lets make 2012 the year that it all comes together.....
Mucho Love, DW
